The Grammy Museum hosted an intimate discussion with Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett followed by a brief set in advance of her second of two sold out, back-to-back shows at The Roxy this past Sunday afternoon.
Barnett was charming and effusive during her talk which covered topics as wide ranging as her early influences, first album, ("Nevermind") and favorite thing about the U.S. (Whole Foods) but it was obvious she'd much rather let her music speak for itself.
I was able to catch Barnett on Saturday night at The Roxy and was completely blown away by her performance and use of visuals. Sunday afternoon's show was decidedly more low key while still retaining much of the fire and passion that won me over the night before. Barnett is a rare talent and I definitely considered myself lucky to be among the few inside the Clive Davis Theater for this very special chat and performance.
