Collapsing Scenery at The Roxy - 5.18.16

words + photos by Joe Cortez

Emerging from the sonic underbelly of culture's hippest fringe comes Collapsing Scenery, a minimalist, experimental outfit that playfully combines elements of rock, hip hop, electronic, jazz and punk. Before traveling to Europe for dates in support of the band's latest release, the 7" single "Deep State," released April 22 via Metropolitan Indian, Collapsing Scenery stopped by LA's Roxy Theatre for an opening set this past Wednesday night prior to a headlining set by pop group Phases.

The show itself was as wildly experimental as the music, lit for the most part by a single projector that drew shapes and colors on the band as vocalist Reggie Debris served as an instigator for the madness that ensued. It was a performance that left my senses shattered and nerves fried.

Check out my photos from the night, also featuring RKCB and headliner Phases, below. For more on Collapsing Scenery, be sure to visit and follow @collapsingscene on Twitter.
