Santa Ana's Observatory was home to all things metal in the southland Saturday night as black metal queen Myrkur descended upon the OC crowd, heaping a healthy dose of her dark, hauntingly beautiful vocals and sinister compositions onto the sea of metal heads as she opened for Poland's Behemoth. Hailed by Terrorizer magazine as, "the future of black metal," Myrkur is the one person project of Amalie Bruun. Currently on tour in support of debut full length album "M" (available now via Relapse) I was anxious to see if the Bruun would live up to such lofty expectations and I'm happy to report that seeing Myrkur live was pretty much everything I hoped it would be.
As a performer, the charismatic and theatrical Bruun is captivating and impossible to take your eyes off of. Check out my photos from Saturday night's show, also featuring headliner Behemoth, below. For more on Myrkur be sure to visit myrkurmusic.com and like Myrkur on Facebook.
